At the end of this Hainan Island tour, I specifically chose to stay at Haikou Meilan International Airport Hotel. Originally, I just wanted to catch an early flight for convenience, but after staying there, I realized that its surrounding facilities and convenient transportation directly brought the experience of "overnight airport transition" to the ceiling level, without the hassle of staying at hotels around the airport in the past.
The most outstanding thing is its convenient transportation. You can walk directly to the hotel lobby from the T1 and T2 terminals without going out of the door. You can walk directly to the hotel lobby for 5 minutes by taking the airport corridor. There is no wind and sun during the whole journey. Even in rainstorm days in Haikou, there is no water on your suitcase and body. You don't have to wait for the shuttle bus half an hour in advance like other hotels around the airport, nor do you have to drag your luggage on the roadside to get a taxi. What's even more surprising is that the hotel is directly connected to Meilan High speed Railway Station. It takes only 10 minutes to walk from the Hainan Island High speed Railway to the hotel. Whether it's just completing a self drive around the island or taking the high-speed railway to catch a flight in Haikou, there are no transfers or detours throughout the journey, and it's completely effortless to carry a lot of luggage.
The surrounding facilities of the hotel completely exceed the scope of ordinary airport hotels. A 3-minute walk downstairs is the second phase of Meilan Airport Duty Free Shop. In the last few hours before leaving the island, you don't have to squeeze into the duty-free city in the city. You can leisurely stroll around and buy makeup and snacks that were missed. You can directly take the airport's exclusive pickup channel to pick up the goods, saving Biyi two hours of driving to the city. In the nearby airport business district, there is a wide range of local specialties in Hainan, from Hou'an noodles and Qingbu Liangdian, to chain supermarkets and 24-hour convenience stores. If you want to eat authentic Hainan cuisine, you can find a local restaurant that has been open for more than ten years within a 5-minute walk, so you don't have to stay in a hotel and eat expensive takeout.
It is completely feasible to use the fragmented time waiting for the plane to visit tourist attractions. Take the Huandao High speed Railway from the Meilan High speed Railway Station downstairs of the hotel, and it will take 15 minutes to reach Wenchang. Go to the old street in front of Wenchang Shop to have a bowl of dregs vinegar, and you can travel back and forth on the same day without delaying your flight. Even if you don't want to run far, it only takes 10 minutes by taxi to get to the nearby Yanfeng Town, stroll through the mangrove forests of Dongzhai Port, see the continuous water forests, and enjoy the evening breeze in the suburbs of Haikou, turning the boring waiting time into a short trip.

If you bring the elderly, children or large luggage, you can be directly delivered to the check-in counter with just one phone call. Large luggage before leaving the island can be stored for free in hotels, and light luggage can be used to visit duty-free shops or nearby attractions without having to drag boxes around. I rushed to the early flight the next day, slept enough, and then slowly packed my luggage. Within 10 minutes, I walked to the security checkpoint, completely eliminating the anxiety of setting three alarms when rushing for a flight.

This self driving trip around Hainan Island ended, and I specifically chose to stay at Haikou Meilan International Airport Hotel. Originally, I just wanted to catch an early flight the next day for convenience, but I didn't expect to stay overnight, which completely eliminated the embarrassment and anxiety of catching a flight in the past. It has become the most comfortable airport accommodation experience for me in recent years.
The location of the hotel is really tailor-made for catching a flight. When you come out of T2 terminal, you don't have to go outside. You can walk along the corridor for 5 minutes to reach the hotel entrance, and even the wheels of your luggage don't have to touch the accumulated water on a rainy day. There is no need to wake up two hours early and take a taxi to the airport. After sleeping enough the next day, you can slowly pack your luggage and walk to the check-in counter in 10 minutes. Even the long queue for security checks can be avoided during peak hours, completely saying goodbye to the embarrassing situation of setting three or four alarms for early flights in the past.
The deluxe twin room I booked exceeded my expectations when I pushed open the door. The space of over 30 square meters completely lacked the cramped feeling commonly seen in airport hotels, and the sound insulation was particularly solid. After closing the door, the sound of the terminal's announcements and the movements of planes taking off and landing could not be heard at all. I never expected to live in the core area of the airport. Out of the landing window, you can see the airport apron directly. In the evening, you can see a plane slowly landing with the sunset. You don't need to look for a viewing position, and you can take photos with a sense of atmosphere in the room.
The most striking details are those designed specifically for those rushing to catch a flight. The desk lamp in the room is bright enough to organize their self driving luggage and fill out the offshore duty-free bill of lading the night before. The light is soft and not glaring, and it won't strain the eyes. The 24-hour front desk is available for check-in at any time. After returning my car by car, I arrived at the hotel almost at 1am. The staff quickly helped me complete the procedures and kindly reminded me of the peak check-in period the next day. They also helped me pack breakfast, fearing that I might not be able to catch my flight and eat downstairs in time.
The hotel's facilities are fully adapted to the needs of short stays. The restaurant on the first floor starts serving breakfast from 6am, with local specialties such as Qingbu Liang and Hainan Fen available. You can enjoy authentic Haikou flavors without leaving the hotel. The 24-hour convenience store is right next to the lobby. The mineral water and sunscreen spray that were missing from the previous day's self driving can be bought just a few steps down the stairs. You don't have to drag your suitcase to find the supermarket. Even self-service luggage storage is free. After I check out the next day, I can still store my large luggage in the hotel and go to the nearby Meilan Airport duty-free shop for two hours without dragging my suitcase around.
In the past, staying at an airport hotel was just a temporary solution for one night. However, this time staying at Haikou Meilan International Airport Hotel, I realized that the night before catching a flight could also be a comfortable and secure stay.
